What We Do

Our Kaikoura-based week-end workshops are aimed at beginner and intermediate level photographers wishing to get more out their camera equipment, to improve their photographic skills, and learn new techniques for making better pictures.

Outdoors in the field, we will show you how to get out of 'P' mode and take full manual control of your camera. We'll cover technical areas such as lens selection, exposure control, focus point and depth of field, and how to interpret the digital histogram; as well as working on image visualisation and ideas for creative composition to help you make your images stand out. On the second day we include some time to look at basic post-processing techniques using Adobe Lightroom, and we finish up with an image review session so you can measure your own progress.

All our Kaikoura workshops include overnight accommodation and breakfast at Manakau Lodge, an award-winning luxury b&b located about 15 minutes from town. Our image review sessions also take place at the Lodge, where we have a HD data projector and screen available for our use. Non-photographing partners are welcome to join us for the week-end (a nominal additional charge of $50 is made for accommodation and breakfast) and guests may extend their stay to make the most of it.
